Cultural Representatives

The International Festival is an opportunity for UNC Charlotte student groups and greater Charlotte community members to represent their unique global cultures. The festival is a celebration of the broad international flavor of UNC Charlotte and the greater Charlotte area, and it wouldn’t exist without the participation of these groups.

Show off what makes your country/culture special by becoming a cultural representative at the UNC Charlotte International Festival. There are many ways to highlight your culture at the event, whether that is hosting a booth decorated with items from your country, selling foods representing your culture, performing a traditional dance number, showcasing and selling items from your country or wearing traditional dress and walking in the Parade of Nations.

We call our participants “cultural representatives” because they are not merely selling food, performing or hosting a booth. Instead, they are representing their culture by wearing traditional clothes, decorating their booth with representative items and educating attendees about their unique culture. We want the festival to be an immersive and educational experience for the attendees so that they feel like they are not only getting to travel the world in one day, but learning about and appreciating the countries and cultures they are interacting with.
